KRAV MAGA FIGHT PRINCIPLES
"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog"
(Mark Twain , November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910)
What is Krav Maga?
The purpose of Krav Maga is to end confrontation as quickly as possible. Students learn to defend against all variety of attacks and are taught to counter in the quickest and most efficient way. Attacks are aimed at the most vulnerable parts of the body; at the same time, drills provide maximum safety to students through the use of protective equipment. Training covers situational awareness, developing an understanding of one's surroundings, learning to understand the psychology of a street fight, and identifying potential threats before an attack occurs. It may also cover ways to deal with verbal violence as this is something that could escalate to physical dispute.
Main poins of Krav Maga are:
- Counter attacking and neutralizing the opponent as soon as possible, or
- Targeting most vulnerable points such as the eyes, jaw, throat, ribs, groin,
- Maintaining awareness of surroundings while dealing with the threat in
order to look for escape routes, further attackers, and/or objects that could
be used to defend or attack.
